The Rose That Grew From Concrete

3:19:00 AM KB 1 Comments

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack
in the concrete
Proving nature's law wrong it learned 2 walk
without having feet
Funny it seems but by keeping its dreams
it learned 2 breathe fresh air
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared!

- Tupac Shakur

*During my early teenage years, I was a hardcore poetry fan. I still adore poetry. In the beginning, I'd become attached to Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, 2pac (the poet), etc... And I've grown to absolutely love 2pac's poetry. This man was a pure genius & a realist. And also the realest. And honestly, this is a power poem. A poem that has so much meaning behind it from Pac's mind. And it inspires all at the same time. OMG. If you've never read any of 2pac's poems, then maybe it's time to do some Google'ing. Seriously. I'm a hardcore 2pac fan on the music & the poetry side.*

Flashback Movie: Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella

3:04:00 AM KB 0 Comments

Starring: Brandy & Whitney Houston...

Release/Air Date: November 2, 1997

Can I just say that I've seen this musical/movie a million x 1 times in my life.! This a Disney Classic! And I've always adored this movie dearly. I remember when I used to sing along to all of the songs. I love Disney for the remaking of Cinderella. Honestly, I've never seen the original Cinderella movie starring Julie Andrews. So, I might have to go on the hunt to find it. Because the Cinderella movie has always pulled me in & captivated all of my attention. They don't make Disney movies like this anymore.
Since I adore the movie so much, maybe I should get into the animated Disney Cinderella also. The cartoon maybe. Idk right now. But um, I so much love Disney movies. Every time I think of a throwback Disney movie, I think of my video collection as a kid. And in my mind, I'm thinking that Disney should go ahead & re-release every single classic on dvd, so that way, I'll be able to recollect them all. And then I can be a kid again. lol.
Thanks to Hurricane Katrina for acting like a BLANK BLANK & destroying all of those classic along with every single other thing that I owned...
*Try filling in the blanks for me*

Electrik Red is dope!

5:30:00 AM KB 1 Comments

Most of this post has absolutely nothing to do with Electrik Red. I'm actually listening to them right now. I can't wait until their album comes out next week. I will be getting it. "We Fukc You" is a dope song, yo! I love Friend Lover & So Good also. I love their many youtube videos. They are some dope & hilarious people. And I'm subscribed to all four youtube pages. Because when I'm down or having a bad moment, I'm always amused by something that they may do. For that reason, they're dope & hilarious people.

A Major Anyways.

I just feel like expressing myself at this time of morning.

I made it home from my friend Justin's graduation party. Well it was a nice little get-together though. Well, I made it here at home at officially 3:15 a.m. Why? Because...O.K.! After Phoenix High School's graduation, which started for 7pm and had me leaving around 9pm. Idk. After the graduation (which was nice because I love all of those kiddos & I'm happy for them); I decided to roll to Justin's party with my two cousins (one of whom was a graduate). So, we got there to see a bunch of people chillin' inside. It was a pretty chill evening. But the drama didn't start until after we (us plus two other friends) decided to go to English Turn to chill and socialize. Basically to see if there was another party. lol.

O.k.!

So, I was in my mom's car all night as usual
and let me say that the gas tank was not full today. lol. Which is a surprise.

So, o.k. after we left English Turn /Braithwaithe, we went back to Justin's house before attempting to head back home. This was the freakin point of the night (12am) where my cousins & I had learned that the car was on "E". lmfao. And then the information screen around the cd player started flashing saying "Oil Fuel Low". In my mind were the words "this is fucked up yo". And I didn't know what to do. I was like yo, I have to get home with my mom's car. With gas in it. lol. I was kinda of shocked that I had allowed myself to be a little irresponsible & careless. I think that I was so into wanting to dance to bounce music (sike) or whatever that I didn't pay attention. (Me & Bounce music are a seldom combo b/c I try not 2 listen to it so that way I don't get tired of it. Which I do anyway.) lol.

You know what! I procrastinate too much. If I would've just went back on the Westbank to get some freaking gas before I went to Justin's, this probably wouldn't have happened. I could've been having a good time on the Eastbank & not ending up with no gas at the end of the night. lol. I'm lame for that one. But I don't care though. Because the homies helped me out on this one. So, I do thank Jus, Yung & Deno for the help'o. They're dope for that yo. And they should know that I got them for whatever. But um! For all those homies & people who asked me earlier how did I let the car get to "E" knowing that I would have to go back home.
Let me just say, that there's a first time for everything & it was an accident. So, don't freaking tell me that you've never in your life have done something crazy with a car that was an unexpectant. Like wrecked it, or had a flat tire or have gotten it scrapped by a bridge railing. Idk.
If a person doesn't have a car story of some kind already, they will someday. But this is one of my stories for my yet dramatic life. So, those people who have their little comments
need to just BLANK MY BLANK...
lol.
I'm just playing right now b/c obviously it was unintentional & stuff happens.
The real question is...

Why does crazy stuff always happen to me?
No matter what!
Bad luck shouldn't be popular in my life like this.
Thinking about it now...
My luck has been bad for a while now.
It's like an on & off type of thing.
To a point where I say, I should have known. lol.
That's messed up right?
But um...
this post is leading me into another post with another subject.
But maybe it's dealing are around the same timeframe.
idk. lol.
So, I was thinking about this song phrase that says,
"Running on E...SOMETHING SOMETHING".
Hopefully, no one comes at me
with the running on E jokes. lol.
Oh yeah and when I made it home, I dropped my phone on the ground as I was getting out of the car. It broke into 3 pieces. Which sucked!

12 Things I Adore This Week

2:14:00 PM KB 3 Comments

I have been attached to 12 specific things this week. And I have been truly inspired by these things because they've been helping me throughout some days. Usually in a very positive way. Because of the 12 things I feel very confident enough to express what they are right now. Here we go.

1.) Keri Hilson's "In A Perfect World"

O.K., so, I'm still rocking with Keri on this one. It's been a month & some change since this album has been out. And guess what?!. I'm still listening to it like it came out this past Tuesday. Man, this is probably my favorite album right now. Hands down. As I'm writing this, I'm listening to it. I listen to this album so much that I've even learned to just listen to the backgrounds vocals (which are awesome). I'll be listening to this forever.

2.) iCarly (TV Show)
Can iJust say that iCarly is my favorite show.?! This show is so hilarious. Seriously. I really & truly love this show with a passion. The Hills has officially been knocked off the top of the list. And I'm surprised of that happening. Memo: The Hills are not #1 on my list anymore. #2 MAYBE. Anyways. iCarly comes on every single day on The-N x Nickelodeon. And guess what! I autotune every episode, no matter if it's a rerun or not. And I've been thinking about purchasing the past seasons on DVD. So! Upon graduation from college, I would absolutely love to do some production work for this type of show. Producing a show on MTV is still at the top of the list though. iCarly is straight up dopeness.

3.) http://thespacesikk.blogspot.com Sikk has one of the coldest blogs. This blog is a favorite of mine. And I honestly think that what she's bringing on her blog is different from the others. I love when she does post on videos x quotes x kicks and all kinds of other dope things. Because it's usually something that I'll like to love.

4.) The 30+ shots of myself that was taken last week.

I think I was bored at the time & just thought to have fun with my camera. Taking them was actually fun though. A friend of mine said I look mad but I really wasn't. Just so happens I chose to show the pics that I wasn't smiling on. I can't post all 35 pictures but you can see a few that I've posted.

5.) Clueless (The Movie)
Can I just say that I have Clueless on DVD. So, you know the party always start when this comes on. I usually just party by myself though. I need some friends who'll watch it with me. Bummer, right?!. Man, this movie is pure dopeness. lol. Seriously. I think I'm going to look at it once I post this.

6.) Stickers from Target x Walmart
Stickers are what I adore these days. Probably because I've been fasinated with creating picture collages with stickers on my laptop face. Since I've done it, it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Target x Walmart have the best things ever yo. Anyways, there are so many word stickers x butterflies x stars all over the face of my laptop. It's kind of cool to look at them when my laptop's closed. Boredom was the reason for me to start this. I think I create the most creative things when I'm bored.

7.) http://fashionistaatplay.blogspot.com/

This is a wonderful blog that I've recently come to love. And I love the fun x positive type of energy that's being put into this blog. It's probably one of my favorites. And homegirl does her thing with putting it together. I need to take a few pointers on keeping up.

8.) Drake's "The Comeback Season"
Drizzy! Comeback Season is my fav. & apart of my daily life. Can't live without this man. I had to switch it up to '07's 'Comeback Season' because 'So Far Gone' is running too much through my iPod. For those newly fan people who are just recently getting the Drake memo, please backtrack & head to the "Comeback Season" & "Room For Improvement" Mixtapes. And maybe even Degrassi: The Next Generation: all of the seasons. You might learn something besides Every Girl & Best I Ever Had.

9.) Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill"
Lauryn Hill! This is my favorite album ever. This one is apart of my daily routine. In case you haven't realized yet, I'm very much a follower of Lauryn Hill. I would have to do a few posts to express how I feel about this album. Greatness.

10.) Ryan Leslie's Self-Titled Album

Ryan Leslie is a musical genius. I've been rocking with this album since I don't know when. So, it's like a daily routine to listen to this album. It's probably not going anywhere. And I really really recommend it, if you don't already have it. I promise you that it's one of the best albums ever.

11.) Red Bull Energy Drink

Red Bull has helped me out dearly. I love it. It does keep me up when I need it the most. Usually, my heart x body is on the runway when I drink it. Probably because of the large amounts of Taurine, Sucrose & Caffeine that it contains. That's probably not safe at all, huh?! Oh, well. The creators of Red Bull do practice what they preach & what they're selling works.

12.) Marilyn Monroe Quotes

Lately, I've been loving a few of Marilyn Monroe's Quotes. What can I say about Marilyn Monroe & her quotes?! She had somewhat of a "I don't give a f*" & "I'll tell it how I see it" attitude when it came to saying things. And some quotes are funny & real & random & blunt. And when I think of Marilyn Monroe, I think of her as being so glamorous & blunt. Something like when she was in the film "The Seven Year Itch". *MySORandomSidenote*(Only if you care)lol* "Yes, I'm into films/tv & obviously because that's what I'm going to school for."
And (oh yeah) before I forget...
It would be cool to see others showing their 12 things that they adore in a week. Hopefully, you'll be next to do that.

A Message To Those In The Blogger World

9:24:00 PM KB 0 Comments

Sorry about not blogging as often. For some reason, my mind has been somewhere else (not planet Earth)lol. Where? Idk. I haven't been as into writing and blogging these past couple weeks. Hopefully, I will be back on track to bringing more creativity to the world & to the blogosphere.

And (OH YEAH)!

I just want to thank every single wonderful-creative-dope person who has followed my blog so far. I appreciate it greatly. Because you guys are what is driving me to keep writing and blogging and also helping me to be even more inspired to express myself even more. Loves, Thank you again. Thank you for following & the comments.

And also, thank you to the people whose blogs I'm following right now because those blogs are the blogs that always help to keep my day going. There are some blogs out there that I absolutely can't live without, mainly, because of the quality & the work that goes into them. And I pick quality over quantity. Right?! Anyways, I'll do a Blogspot shout-out post 1day 4 those blogs that I enjoy dearly. Especially to show you guys the wonderful blogs that are on my list that maybe you should check out & add to your list. Anyways. I'm inspired by a lot of blogs that I'm currently following but you should know that I've been reading them faithfully and trying to leave my comments if needed. Mainly, because I enjoy them & I find interest in them. I love when other people are expressing themselves. And sometimes when on an odd or random day, they can be creative in the process. Yes, I do read a lot of posts. Actually, I think I read to many posts in one day. lol. Expect the comments that are honest or sincere from me. Commonly positive.

SO! Thank you again (times)30.

Jazzy'd Out Right Now...

5:03:00 AM KB 1 Comments

In A Jazz Music Sense! Right, iListen to Jazz Music. As I get older, I'm being exposed to different types and styles of music. I absolutely love to learn & explore all expressions of music. I try not to discriminate whatsoever. So, I'm looking forward to exploring more of this wonderful genre called Jazz. Last year, I was exposed to some Jazz through Music Class & also from attending TSU's Vocal Jazz Ensemble Concerts. I was so easily influenced by some of the best experiences. So, I think I'm in love now. There's something about Jazz that just puts you in a positive & feel good place. A place that no one can take away. And that's why I love it. It's a place that rap, r&b music or others genres can't take me. Sooo, I'm going to work hard to achieve the goal that I've set. And that's to one day being able to... lol. I'm not ready to announce that yet. Maybe in a few days, or weeks, or months. I don't know. Who knows.

Soulja Boy x Freestyle In The Same Sentence?

4:42:00 AM KB 0 Comments

For some reason, I like this one...I'm not even going to lie. This wasn't the best freestyle in the world. But coming from Soulja Boy, this actually sounds like a real "freestyle" for a change. When the music cut off, Soulja Boy decided to freestyle for the audience until the music was working again. Oh yeah, I was feeling the drums while Soulja Boy was doing his thing.

Rick Ross x H-Town...

Right before his album release day! PitchControlTV was there to get in on the action. On this PitchControlTV Exclusive, Rick Ross goes to the legendary Screwed Up Records & Tapes, then Texas Southern University, then KTSU FM for an Interview, then This Is It Soul Food, next a private listening session at SF2 Sneaker Fashion & later that night he had a concert. This exclusive ends with Rick Ross chillin' in his hotel room and givin' us one of his diss records to 50 called "Push 'Em Over". I guess Rick Ross & Houston is a good combo>

Big Sean x Me

3:25:00 AM KB 0 Comments

These past few days for me have been surprisingly & somewhat calm and undramatic. I've been relying so much on music & my iPod to keep me in this Positive mode. With that being said, a little of the credit goes to Big Sean's UKNOWBIGSEAN MIXTAPE. For the passed week, I've been constantly listening to Big Sean & have been feeling very heavenly like with this ear candy. I'm not going to lie. I did push the mixtape to the side at first. But just so happens that this is the best thing since Drake's So Far Gone. I'm juggling & listening to so many people right now that it's rediculous. I feel like I want to post a blog to express what my ears & heart are experiencing at the moment. I've got to let all of this out soon. Oh yeah. I almost forgot. Big Sean & His Mu5!c are definitely on my LOVES list. I think I'm in love yo! lol. I've been pulled in by Big Sean.

Essence Music Festival '09

11:42:00 PM KB 0 Comments

Yes! I've been waiting awhile for the lineup to come out and it's finally here! The 2nd time headliner for Essence will be Beyonce. The other wonderful performers are Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke, Keri Hilson, Ryan Leslie, Jazmine Sullivan, En Vogue, Solange, John Legend, Melanie Fiona, Janelle Monae, Rebirth Brass Band, Salt N Pepa, The Knux, Anita Baker, Al Green AND a million more other artists over the course of 3 nights on the July 4 weekend in the N.O. Superdome.

I love the first nights for the Essence Fest. Guess that makes me an first nighter only person. IDK. lol. But the first nights are always the best & hypest of Essence. The people that I'm most excited about on this night are Keri Hilson, Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Solange, John Legend & Salt N Pepa. There will be 12 other acts (on the mainstage & in the superlounges) but those 7 specific people are my favs of the night. With Beyonce, Keri Hilson & Solange being the most fav favs.

Now, let's talk about Essence Fest '08.

Which I was in attendance, not too far from the stage that stood under MR. WEST. All I've got to say is MAN.!!! I've been to plenty of concerts in my 19 years of living but Essence '08 is down in my history book as THE BEST.

The headliners were KANYE WEST! OMG. I'ma get on what he did later. The others were Chris Brown, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Keyshia Cole, Musiq Soulchild, J. Holiday, LL Cool J, Jill Scott, Solange, Estelle, and a million more artists... Of course, I went the first night with Kanye West, Chris Brown, Rihanna & J. Holiday. The dopest! At the end, I wanted to literally cry walking out the SuperDome. Of course, the homies/cousins & I were smiling from ear to ear. Because that's how 4REAL this sh*t was. The sets were in the order of J. Holiday, Chris Brown, Rihanna & Kanye the Best! This is in the order from ok to the best. With 'Ye being the very supa dupa best in the world. I MEAN OUT THIS WORLD. Anyways, I think this entire concert had last from maybe about 7 pm to 3 am. No joke. Like 4real.

And Kanye...uh um...I'm sorry but I don't have the amount of energy to explain what went on during his 4 1/2-5 hour performance set. Kanye did like over 20 something songs. That's how serious it was. And, the many outfit changes were incredible. This was a version of the Glow In The Dark Tour revamped. If you went to the Glow Tour, you know what I'm talking about. Something serious. Yeah man!

Here is some of the action that went down at Essence '08.
